Nothing beats a good sweaty workout, especially one that works up a sweat in a short period of time (helloooo GOOD SWEAT!).
HIIT workouts, one of the most popular forms of exercise at the moment, are great because they give you a lot of bang for your buck. High intensity burst of exercises followed by short rest periods have been linked to weight loss, increased muscle strength, and aerobic and anaerobic fitness.
It’s important to consume the proper types of foods after your HIIT workout in order to get maximum results. Some of my favorite post HIIT workout foods include eggs, blueberries, and avocado. Eggs contain a significant amount of protein and healthy fats. Blueberries are filled with antioxidants that can aid with muscle recovery. And avocado contains high amounts of potassium, which can help prevent muscle cramps and reduce inflammation.
I love grabbing a handful or two of blueberries and adding them to my post-gym smoothie– my Glow-To recipe is linked here. Eggs are delicious when scrambled with peppers and mushrooms, or try a plain hard boiled egg with salt and pepper. They’re also great in salads, especially my avo egg salad here. I try to include some avocado in one or two meals a day. A third, or half of an avocado mashed on toast, paired with eggs, or even added to a smoothie for extra healthy fats. These are all great ways to incorporate avocados for HIIT recovery!
