I’m convinced that having a freezer full of healthy food options is the secret to consistently eating clean, whole meals. In our house, it definitely is at least! We do like to try new things, but there is a handful of items you will find STOCKED in our freezer about 90% of the time. And I truly do credit it to helping us avoid processed “convenience” foods packed with added sugar.
So if you’re looking to up your health game in 2020, start by taking a look in my freezer and maybe stealing a few of the following ideas!
Frozen organic spinach/power greens
You can make SO many things with frozen spinach. It makes the perfect addition to just about any recipe – like if you’re making salmon and you need a quick side dish or for when you want to add an extra boost of nutrients to a smoothie.
Birch Benders paleo toaster waffles
Finding really good paleo waffles can be tricky, but I’m convinced Birch Benders paleo toaster waffles is the answer. They taste EXACTLY like Ego waffles and my life has improved significantly since discovering them.
Frozen organic peaches and blueberries for smoothies
Smoothies are an everyday staple for me so having frozen fruit on-hand 24/7 is a must. I usually opt for peaches so I can make my favorite peachy green protein smoothie (recipe in my 7-Day Added Sugar Detox ebook) when fresh peaches are out of season. We also love blueberries (Glow-To Smoothie is a must!), and Bridge tends to have frozen bananas in his for my new Banana Chai Protein shake– snag the recipe in the Good Life ebook!
A “vault” of leftover healthy treats
I totally get that creating healthy treats is part of my job so it’s easier for me to have lots of extras just hanging out in my freezer, but if you take some time on the weekend to make a few recipes, you’ll have your own “vault” before you know it. I highly recommend the Twix bars, Snickers bars, chocolate PB truffles/homemade Reese’s – the list goes on and on! Of course, don’t go all out and eat them all in one sitting 😉 They’re in the freezer so they can last much longer! Take your time & enjoy.
I love AWG bakery and good news, they ship! Their bread is free of all allergens, which I think is hard to come by. I slice it up and freeze it because I don’t have bread all that often so I’ll just grab a piece and throw it in the toaster.
Frankie & Jo’s RGE Cookies & Cream dairy-free ice cream
If you’re one of those people who thinks there’s no way dairy-free ice cream can’t be as good as dairy, then you haven’t tried Frankie & Jo’s RGE Cookies & Cream. Unfortunately it was only avail in-store and on their website during the month of January 🙁 but all their other flavors are so delicious! It’ll alter your dessert game forever!
Now get to that freezer and stock up! I promise it’ll make life a bit easier always having something delicious and nutritious at home and ready to eat!
