Sayonara to the hot summer sun and the later nights… and hello to dry, dull skin. Now that the seasons are changing, I wanted to rev up my skincare game for maximum recovery after all that sun time. Growing up, I considered myself a tomboy and was never super into skincare products, not to mention the “clean beauty” products. It’s really just been over the past 6-8 months I started branching out and testing new products, which I’m now ALL about an aggressively oiled face before bed.
Before I share my daily routine, I just want to emphasize that everyone’s skin is different and, similarly to diet, one skincare routine doesn’t work for everyone. Make sure to do your research and take advantage of reaching out to the skincare companies you’re interested in for more info!
I got quite a bit of feedback from my esthetician I’ve been seeing since my past two (*and only two) facials. My skin type is pretty normal and tends to get more dry than oily, which is why I’ve found that my skin THRIVES with heaps of serums and oils vs. lotion. In highschool I had the typical breakouts on my forehead, upper cheeks and back (thanks to my sweaty jerseys during basketball season). Now days, I’m lucky that my face stays pretty clear on a daily basis, minus the occasional hormonal chin acne around that time of the month. But, I also never go to sleep with my makeup on, I eat very healthy & nourishing foods, and I stay hydrated.
Overall, I’m pretty impressed with my skincare routine at the moment and wanted to share with you what’s been working for me! I’m really focusing on repairing and hydrating my skin during the dry, winter months here in Seattle.
Items are listed in order of how I use.
1. Naturopathica cleansing aloe gel
the minute I started using this cleanser I noticed how gentle it was on my face. With many other cleansers I’ve tried in the past, they tend to strip my face of the moisture, leaving it super dry– not this one! I use it every night to remove makeup/dirt + cleanse before I continue on with my routine. Very affordable, too!
2. Cocokind skincare raspberry facial toner
toners are great to bring skin back to your normal pH levels. They help to reduce inflammation and restore circulation. Best used after cleanser and before moisturizer. I use about 2 sprays over my face. Extremely affordable for the quality and found at Whole Foods. I use PM.
3. True Botanicals cellular repair serum
I just started using this last month for the sole reason I’m in the sun a ton during summer months and although I wear sunscreen, I’m not the best at keeping my face out of the sun. This fall & winter is my time to focus on repair and I’ve heard amazing things about this product. I rub in between my palms and press (not wipe or rub) gently onto my face, around and under my eyes, and my neck and chest. It’s an expensive product, but so far I’m loving it and really want to invest in good quality products that can help my skin last. I use AM and PM.
4. Tata Harper restorative eye cream
this is the only product I have from their collection and I am beyond OBSESSED. It’s such a rich cream that seriously feels like it’s working immediately after I put it on. I do about 1.5 pumps on the back of my hand and use my ring finger to lightly dab it around the crow’s feet section of my eye, underneath my eye, on the upper lid, and the inner eye on either side. Anything left over I use to smooth upwards, in between the eyebrows and continue on my forehead. Cause ya girl already got those fine lines at 25. Again, another pretty spendy product, but I couldn’t recommend more. It seems as though it’ll last about 4-6 months as well, depending on how much you use. I use AM and PM.
5. Naturopathica vitamin c revitalizing lotion
vitamin c is one of the most important nutrients we need in the body– not just in our food, but topically as well. It’s a great antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals in the skin, in addition to stimulating collagen production and maintenance. I use two pumps, rub in between hands and massage in an upwards motion all over my face and neck. I use PM.
6. Cocokind golden elixir (or their chia seed facial oil)
beyond impressed with either of these facial oils!!! The golden elixir is made from the sacha inchi plant in Peru and is extremely rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidants. It does a great job at reducing free radical damage and inflammation. It has a mild scent and absorbs nicely into the skin. Totally rejuvenating, I love it. I go back and forth between this and the chia facial oil. Can be found at Whole Foods. I use AM and PM.
7. Fresh vitamin nectar glow water
if I’m feeling extra high-maintenance, I’ll use this insanely delicious smelling hydration mist as the last step in my nightly routine. Alcohol-free with a fruity scent, and packed with vitamins that makes my skin feel immediately hydrated. I use PM.

Just like how everyone looks better with a hint of tan skin, everyone looks more radiant with a touch of glowy, oiled up skin, IMO 😉 I feel so refreshed in the AM if I douse my facial oils on before several hours of computer work.

Hi Rachael, I am wondering if you could tell me where you bought the huge bronzer brush you used to show your makeup routine?
Thanks,
Brigitte
