Still recovering from life on the road during my book tour, and currently still so buried in emails. Essentially, I am in full-force overwhelmed. I’ve been really mindful of incorporating de-stressing habits throughout the workday to make sure I’m staying on top of everything; they’re so simple, but make the biggest difference! Let me know which tip hits close to home and if you have any to add to the list 🙂
- Mini breaks. After a stretch of productivity or a long meeting, I try to take 10 minutes away from my computer. Whether I go for a walk, take a quick 15-minute nap in the afternoon or whip up an easy snack, taking intentional space away from the screen helps me level out before diving into the next project on my to-do…. which I’m not always the best at. Surprisingly, I’m at my computer or on my phone most of the day, so reminding myself about this tip is so necessary!
- Keep my notebook close. I typically have a notebook with my never-ending to-do list on hand with reminders that I write to myself, half-formed ideas, long bullet point lists, etc. Having a place to dump all my thoughts helps clear my head, and, can totally save me when something slips my mind.
- Release physical stress. It sounds crazy, but when I’m sore from a tough workout, or have been sitting too long (both physical stressors), my mental load just feels heavier. If I’m feeling an overwhelming amount of stress that I can’t pin to anything specific, a quick walk and a stretch does wonders. Or if I have more time, I’ll use my hypervolt for a deep massage!
Don’t forget to take care of yourself this week, mental health is just as important as physical health <3
this reminder speaks volumes! I’m taking a *heavy* and fast-paced course load this summer and are going to be clinging on to mental health boosters like these. I also love slowing down by putting on music I love or listening to a pod 🙂
