Halloween is one of those holidays that’s all about fun, costumes, and candy—and I’m on board for all of it. But, you might not be surprised to hear that I like to be mindful of the type of candy that I’m giving out to trick-or-treaters. I’m all about healthier halloween candy (and healthier candy-bar remakes)! There are so many better-for-you options out there that skip the artificial dyes, high fructose corn syrup, and mystery ingredients which is so important to me, especially now as a mom!

If you’re looking to fill your candy bowl (or your kids’ trick-or-treat bags) with treats you actually feel good about, here are some of my favorite options.

Why I Choose Corn Syrup–Free & Dye-Free Candy

Traditional candy often relies on high fructose corn syrup as a cheap sweetener and artificial dyes like Red 40 or Yellow 5 for those bright colors. These ingredients don’t necessarily make candy evil, but they’re not doing us any favors either. Kids especially are sensitive to additives, and as a mom, I just prefer more natural ingredients whenever possible.

My Favorite Better-For-You Halloween Candy

Here are some additional go-to brands and treats I’d happily hand out or keep in my pantry this season:

  • Unreal Candy – Think M&M’s and peanut butter cups, but made with simple, non-GMO ingredients and no artificial dyes.
  • SmartSweets – Lower in sugar and free from artificial sweeteners or dyes, these are great if you’re trying to cut back on added sugar without losing that chewy texture.
  • YumEarth – Their lollipops and gummy bears are colored with fruit and vegetable juices, not chemicals, and they taste just like the classics.
  • Justin’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups – Organic and perfectly portioned. The dark chocolate ones are next-level.
  • Trader Joe’s Organic Lollipops – A solid dye-free, corn-syrup-free option if you’re shopping in-store.
