When was the last time you had sloppy joe’s?! I know it’s been years for me, which is why I set out to recreate a new and improved, healthier version. And let me tell you, it was way easier than I thought. A one-pot-wonder, if you will!

I used Sir Kensington’s Classic Ketchup for added flavor (click here for product info), some extra veggies including mushrooms and bell peppers and 1 lb of grass-fed ground beef.

It. was. amazing.

Try this recipe out for yourself and let me know how you like it down below in the comments!

Bringing back a childhood favorite– I completely forgot how downright DELICIOUS these are!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 white onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1/3 cup Sir Kensington’s classic ketchup
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1-2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb grass-fed ground beef
  • 3-4 mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 6-oz can tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp pink salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  • In a large sauce pan or skillet, sauté ground beef in oil about 3-5 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks. Add in onion, bell pepper and mushroom for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients and let cook for 10-12 minutes on low heat, stirring every few minutes.
  • Once done, toast the buns and add sloppy joe mixture to each bun.

  1. My mom always use to make Sloppy Joe’s when I was younger and I loved them, but I would have crazy heart burn after. I didn’t have ANY heart burn with yours.. literally a dream come true! My boyfriend was a huge fan as well!!

Side note: we made salads as a side so I cut the recipe in half and it still made for 4 servings!

  2. looks yummy!! have been craving these ever since a friend made some traditional ones and i didn’t want to partake. what worcestershire sauce do you recommend for someone eating zero-to-minimal sugar? or do you make your own? and is there a GF bun you like? or do you just eat it over greens when you’re being strict? thx! 🙂
